In the process of completing my major requirements, there was a moment where i felt i was missing a major part of my own history as daughter of immigarnt Mexican Parents. After taking my service Learning class with Dr. Fernandez the topic of the border touched my heart and i identified with the struggle of immigrants. In the process of assimilation i lost my mother TONGUE and i decided to not only pursue a degree in spanish for professional advancement but to regain my Spanish. I was INTRODUCED to Gloria Anzaldua Chicanx Writer and Her Quote resonated With me as I read Borderlands: La frontera. in this educational and self-discovery journey I was able to RECONCILE with my Brown INDIGENOUS side and decided to minor in Chicanx Studies. I hope to unite my love for Literature and Chicanx Studies to bring awareness of Chicanismo as a future professor. Down below are the courses i took in order to complete my Chicanx Studies Minor.
