Course Narrative
This course meets MLO 2
In this course, I was able to learn several parts of linguistics like, phonetics, phonology morphology and syntax. In phonetics and phonology I learned how the mouth forms to create the sounds which is known as the mode of articulation as well as knowing the parts of the mouth which are known as the point of articulation. In morphology, which is the structure of the word, I learned how the words can morph together to create whole new words and meaning. In syntax, which is the way the we structure sentences, I learned how to place the right nouns and adjectives to form a correct sentence. It was interesting to learn that the descriptions might be a different meaning in English.
During this course I was able to learn the different levels of phonetics. morphology and syntax of different Spanish speaking groups. I worked with my classmates on a presentation about Chicano Spanish which helped me to learn as why at times I would pronounce Spanish words with the interference of English. As a Chicana, I was able to learn more of the historical context of Chicano Spanish. Please take a look at this Chicano Spanish presentation that I participated in, during this course.
