Course Reflective Narrative:
In this course, I was introduced to Chicanx writers like Sandra Cisneros, Gloria Anzaldua, Lucha Corpi, Alex Espinoza, Myriam Gurba, Reyna Grande , Demetria Martinez, Maria Elena Viramontes and many more. The topic of these narratives was identity, mental health, culture, feminism, machismo, refugeeism. It was very interesting to learn the reason why Chicanx writers take a political stand in their writing. The important concept is that they are rewriting the story to rescue stolen history and identities and overall rewriting for inclusiveness.
I was also able to read a book about an author not studied in class. I analyzed the memoir Burro Genius by Victor Villasenor. This class was based on exams,. reading reflections, quizzes and group discussions. Down below you can take a look of my presentation of Burro Genius.
