Course Reflective Narrative:
These course led by Dr. Pozzi, was a mix of studies in the field of applied linguistics. It was interesting to learn the types of methodologies used to teach a secondary language. Dr. Pozzi has us work on some reports and identify the type of methodologies used. I found it interesting to learn and to use the error code when correcting students. During the semester we had to observe a language teacher and I was able to see the methodologies used and how the professor used the error code guidelines. Some topics that we touched base on was ways of communications, the use of technology when teaching a second language, linguistic variations, teaching Spanish heritage teachers, the benefits of studying abroad. At the end of the semester she had us review some of the book used to teach Spanish to heritage speakers and it was very interesting. In additions, this course prepares its students for those who will be teachers, we got to play teachers doing our own presentations as well as using material to create activities. Another important topic that we discussed was crating a philosophy of teaching which it is great for us to have for when we are ready to look for jobs, Feel free to take a look at my philosophy of teaching down below.
